Summer Camp, August 6-19

We are once again gearing up for Summer Camp at Daniel Webster Council’s (DWC) Griswold Scout Reservation in New Hampshire. We will be at Camp Bell the first week (August 6 – 12) and Hidden Valley the second week (August 13 – 19). There are several new and exciting programs going on this year! One is the SPOKE program for Scouts 14 years old and up that involves kayaking, hiking, and mountain biking or rock climbing. More information to follow. Summer Camp packets should be distributed some time within the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, please be aware of the following:

  1. The full fee for summer camp is due on March 2nd this year. It will be important to have all fees in at that time so that the camp can plan ahead to make summer camp the best possible experience for Scouts. All Scouts who are paid up on time will receive a free hat from the DWC!
  2. Scouts will need a completed Class 3 medical form for summer camp. Each Scout must have had a physcial sometime on or after August 19, 2004 (i.e., within the last couple of years). Please make appointments with your Scouts doctor now if a physical is needed. For adults over 40 staying at the camp, physicals must less than a year old. Medical forms are due by May 15th!

Summer Camp is a wonderful experience for Scouts. It is a great time to work on advancement (like merit badges), have a lot of fun and an opportunity to create memories that will stay with your Scout for the rest of their lives. Please consider sending your Scout to both weeks of camp this year.

If you have questions, please respond to this email, call, or ask for me at one of the Troop Meetings.
