Scout Shabbat and Scout Sunday

In February and March it is traditional for American Scouting units to celebrate Scout Shabbat and Scout Sunday. Several such events are scheduled in Lexington. On Friday, February 17 at 8:15 pm, Temple Isaiah will welcome all Scouts (Jewish or not) to their services. Please come in Class A uniforms as complete as possible. Gini Shevrin, the Committee Chair of Troop 119, would like all Scouts to meet just inside the side doors of the Temple at about 8 pm and sit together. Cookies and juice are served after the services, which generally end around 9:30. If you plan to attend please contact Mrs. Shevrin at “gshevrin -at- gmail -dot- com”.

On Sunday, March 12, Hancock United Church of Christ (home of Troop 119 and Cub Scout Pack 137) welcomes all Scouts (Christian or not) to their Sunday morning service, at 10 am.

Also on Sunday, March 12, St Brigid Church (home of Troop 160) will have Scout Sunday at 11:30 am. 10 am (UPDATE: note time change).

Scout Sunday was already held at Plymouth Congregational Church in Belmont on February 5. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts jointly helped with the service. When the minister asked for Scouts and Scout leaders to stand, 100% of the choir and 80% of the congregation stood up!
