West Point Camporee update: Forms needed

Here’s where we stand on planning for the West Point Camporee. This covers everything we talked about at the Troop meeting yesterday. Detailed directions for driving to West Point will be forthcoming early next week.

One thing we did not discuss, and should have, is that we need to get some additional forms filled out for the Camporee staff (not the permission slip for the troop). The forms can be downloaded here. For each Scout, we need both the “Release form liability (Minors)” and the “Medical Form.” For each adult, we need the “Release form liability (Adults)” (no medical form needed). Since we have a group going early Friday, we must have the forms back by the Troop meeting on Thursday evening. You can drop them at my house (34 Harding Rd, not 11 Minute Man Lane), mail them, or bring them to the Troop meeting. If we don’t have the forms, you can’t attend the Camporee.

Rod & Gun Campout Reminder

Please be sure you submit your permission slip and $15.00 check to Mr. Bassett at the Apr 27 Troop 160 meeting.

Patrols will need to plan menus at the meeting and obtain their food before we depart on Saturday morning.

Be at St Brigid at 7:15am Sat morning Apr 29. Scouts will return to St Brigid at 12:00pm on Sunday.

Parents are encouraged to come. And don’t forget we’ll have the mystery chefs preparing the adult dinner Saturday night.

This should be a fun and exciting weekend.

Troop 160 to host West Point Crew Team dinner, 4/29

The Troop will be hosting a pasta dinner for the West Point Crew Team at 6 pm on April 29. Many thanks to the many volunteers who have already signed up — we’ll need you at Keilty Hall at 4 pm. This dinner is largely a way of saying “thank you” to West Point for inviting us to the West Point Camporee for three years running. The team is in town for the Patriot League Championships at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester on Sunday morning — anyone who wants to come cheer will be more than welcome.

UPDATE 4/30: The Crew Team came and had an excellent time. Thanks to all the people who came and helped, and special thanks to our primo pasta chefs, Gerry Abegg and Frank Bellini. Thanks also to St. Brigid’s for use of Keilty Hall. And thanks to the USMC Reserve for not playing “The Marine Hymn” until 6:45, when most of the cadets were out walking around the Green!
