Pancake Breakfast: Thanks to all

The Troop would like to extend its appreciation to all the Scouts, parents, other volunteers, and especially customers who helped make this year’s Pancake Breakfast a big success. We had another record turnout, and the profits from this one annual fundraiser will help with our equipment and activities for the coming year.

We look forward to seeing you again next year!

Patriots’ Day Pancake Breakfast, April 17

Don’t know why we didn’t post this before…

Troop 160 will be holding its annual Pancake Breakfast on Monday, April 17, from 5:30 to 10:00 am. It’s held at St. Brigid’s Church (map) right after — and right next to — the annual re-enactment of the Battle of Lexington (let’s cheer for our side to win this year).

For the modest sum of $5 (only $3 for children under 12) you get pancakes, sausage, juice, coffee or tea — an excellent way to warm up after the pre-dawn chill. This Pancake Breakfast is the Troop’s only fundraiser of the year, so it’s how we pay for tents and camperships.

Besides the excellent food, you’ll have the opportunity to meet the Scouts and see displays on some of their activities.

Service Project: Middlesex Conservation District Plant Sale, April 28-29

Hello everyone,

I am looking for scouts to participate in a volunteer service project for a non profit environmental agency, the Middlesex Conservation District. Twice a year we hold plant sales to raise money for conservation programs. We need scouts to help our customers load bags of compost into their cars (our customers and regular volunteers tend to be older, we need some younger, stronger assistants!)

I apologize for the late notice on this event. I had thought this had been put on the troop calendar but apparently it slipped through the cracks, and I really need to scramble to arrange volunteers, so I’m hoping some of you can help out.

Event: Middlesex Conservation District Plant Sale

When: Friday April 28 (3-6 pm) and Saturday April 29 (8am – 12noon).

Where: 4H Fairgrounds, South Chelmsford Rd, Westford, MA.

Compensation: All the doughnuts you can eat. Really.

You can volunteer for either day. We can probably use four scouts per day, although two could manage. I realize this is the same weekend as the trip to Hudson, but I’m hoping some of you who aren’t going on that trip, or who could make it on Friday, can help us out. Please note – the compost is bagged, is not smelly or messy, and we really need volunteers!!!

Please let me know as soon as possible. I can be reached via email at fgilles02420 -at- yahoo -dot- com
Thank you,

Frances Gillespie

No meeting tonight, April 13

…the Church is in use setting up for Easter.

UPDATE: Slips for the Rod & Gun campout were due 4/13, but obviously couldn’t be submitted since the meeting was cancelled. You can turn in your slip at the Troop meeting on 4/27, which is only two days before the campout. If you’re planning to go and haven’t turned in your slip yet, please contact Mr. Bassett soon so we can plan.

Volunteers Needed

This was announced at troop meeting last week, but it might have been missed. I need three or four Scouts to help with serving coffee this Sunday, April 9th, for just one hour at St. Brigids. Scouts who can help should show up in Keilty Hall at 10:30 AM and will be done by roughly 11:30 AM. Wear Class A uniform. This is a service project for our sponsor who gives us space to meet, a place to store our equipment, and a place to hold our annual Pancake Breakfast which funds our operation for the year. And it only takes one hour out of your life!!

Helping with events like this re-introduces us to our sponsor and to the community.
