Troop 160 will have a booth at Lexington Discovery Day on May 27. Stop by and visit — bring your friends.
We will have a joint Boy Scout-Cub Scout Booth. 10 uniformed boy scouts and 5 – 10 adult volunteers needed to staff the booth for 1 hour slots. This is a perfect opportunity for boys in the new scout patrols and for boys who have recently joined the troop, to complete the new 1st class requirement. If you are interested in helping, please respond directly to Mrs. Shevrin at shevrin {at} rcn(.)com">shevrin {at} rcn(.)com. See her detail email below:

Discovery Day in Lexington is fast approaching. It will be Saturday, May 27, from 10 am to 3 pm. We will set up at 8 am.
The BSA units of Lexington will have a booth to help advertise our existence and to answer questions of prospective Cub and Boy Scouts. Last year we got a lot of visitors of Cub Scout age, and they love to see what the older guys are up to. Troop 119 is planning to lash together a tower approx 5 x 5 x 8' tall., and we will probably want to pitch a tent for display purposes. Skip Irving is lending us his pop-up booth, and Hank Manz is providing a colorful banner. We should have 16' of fence space to decorate with photo arrays, etc.; T119 has a 6 foot table that we can use as well.
I need up to 10 uniformed boy volunteers (across all the units) to staff the booth for 1 hour slots, and 5 - 10 adult volunteers (can be the parent of aforementioned boys), to staff the booth for 1 hour slots. This is a perfect opportunity for boys in the new scout patrols and for boys who have recently joined the troop, to complete the new 1st class requirement which reads:
"Tell someone who is eligible to join Boy Scouts, or an inactive Boy Scout, about your troop's activities. Invite him to a troop outing, activity, or service project, or meeting. Tell him how to join, or encourage the inactive Boy Scout to become active."
If I have more boy volunteers than I need, priority will go to the boys who need to fullfill that requirement. If I have too many adult volunteers, (the booth is small, at most 3 adults and 2 kids at any given time is probably the maximum).
Cub scout volunteers will have to be accompianied by a parent.
So, please email me to volunteer for a specific 1 hour time slot between 10 and 3 if you can. Give me a 2nd choice if possible.
We also need a crew of about 4 - 5 older boy scouts and adults to do the setup at 8 am.
Cubmasters - please make sure to bring your fliers and also a paperweight of some sort to hold them down in the case of wind. Photo boards provide interest for the kids, but think about how to anchor them down. Everything will need to be at the site at 8 am that day so we can figure it out.
Thanks so much. Cubmasters and Hank M, please pass the word to your units so that 119 doesn't end up handling all of the staffing. I'll try to balance it.
Yours in scouting,
Gini Shevrin
