Please Give a Hand to the Annual Cookout at the Old Reservoir on Sat., Sept 30th

The annual cookout at the Old Res will be held on Sat Sept 30 (see details on attached flyer below). Mr. John Woodhouse is this year’s coordinator. Along with the salad / dessert assistance mentioned in the flyer, he needs some volunteers for the following:

5 people to donate their gas grills. (Indicate if you wish to cook, or just donate grill), Please make sure the tank is full enough to last for 2 hours. Reply with your phone # and address.

1-2 persons with truck or trailor to get all grills to and from Old Res.

1 person to be responsible for bringing trash barrels and for removal of trash (and any recycling they wish to set up and be responsible for).

5 people to cook on the grills (owners have first preference), (bring your own utensils)

4 people to help with food prep, serving, drinks, etc……

Most of this is relatively painless volunteer duty, so if you haven’t volunteered much before, please step up to the plate to give a hand. Include your home / cell phone number with your reply directly to Mr. John Woodhouse.

Court of Honor planned for September 21

The Troop will be having a Court of Honor at the regular meeting on Thursday, September 21. New badges of rank, merit badges, and special awards will be presented. The September Court of Honor is usually a big one, since the Scouts have done a lot of work over the summer. Be sure to be there!

FIRST MEETING: Thursday, September 7, 7:30 pm

From Scoutmaster Hank Manz:
The first meeting will be this Thursday. The SPL is preparing a longer message about that so I won’t try to speak for him. Stay tuned. But remember that this is the twice-yearly reorganization meeting so try to be there!
The upstairs of RFK will be unavailable and the mud room downstairs is taken up with furniture. Don’t try the usual entrance–it will be closed. We’ll either be meeting in a semi-crowded mud room or perhaps in Keilty Hall across the street.
While putting away the gear after summer camp, I noticed that we are missing a large green canvas tarp. There were two before we went to camp. We brought the one we took to camp back, but now the other one has wandered away. If somebody borrowed it, please let me know so I will not worry that it is lying someplace, lost and crying, hoping to be returned to the comfort of the basement gear locker.
We are looking for a suitable date for an Advancement Festival when we can finish up some of those merit badges from camp with just one or two things to go. We can also finish up some of those nearly completed Tenderfoot, 2nd, and 1st class requirements. I will be sending out a listing of all of the merit badge partials within a day or two. In addition, I would like to review with all Scouts below 1st Class what they have to do to achieve their next rank. In some cases all you need is a couple of things.
We will probably have some Boards of Review so if there are any ASM adults out there with a little time, please drop in. We may be able to use you.
I hope to see you all Thursday night at 7:30 PM. Surprise me–be on time!
