Citizenship in the Community merit badge classes will be held on both Monday and Tuesday afternoons from 3:30-5:00 for four weeks. Classes will start in two weeks on Nov 13th and 14th. Pick whichever day works best for you. We will have to decide on a final day (the 5th meeting) that satisfies both groups for the highlight of the course–the MIni Town Meeting of Lexingtonia, the small town you will form on the first day. Preparation for the course includes thinking of some bylaw or regulation that you would like to enact or change. We will decide what that should be and then hold a Special Town Meeting to see if we all agree on whether it is a good law or not. I decided to hold the class on both days because the vote on days was split. We will meet in the Selectmens Meeting Room on the second floor of the Town Office Building which is the municipal building across the street from the post office and on the same side of Mass Ave. Parents are invited to attend and, in fact, we will need at least two parents to sit on the Lexingtonia Board of Selectmen.

Veterans Day is on Saturday, Nov. 11th this year. As always, we plan to support this event. Stay tuned for further information. Start time is listed at 10 AM, but we always get there at least 15 minutes early. Either LHS service hours credit or Scout service hours may be earned.

We have been supporting the Friends of Cary Library by helping them move books prior to their twice-yearly book sales. Join me for some book moving followed by free pizza and soft drinks starting at 5 PM on Nov 16th and ending in time to walk to the meeting. Keep in mind that the service hours count toward Reading merit badge requirements and there will be somebody on hand to talk to you about the organization. LHS, Scout, or Reading merit badge hours may be requested for this one.
