For those who may be interested — we’ve just added some more links to the front page of this site. Under the heading “Outdoors Links” we’ve put in links to information about conservation areas in Lexington and nearby towns. Many of these have good maps and trail descriptions that you can print out at home and take along on a walk. Take a look at the Acton areas in particular — it turns out that Camp Acton, where we’ve had several turkey dinners, backs up on several conservation areas that have miles of trails between them. One is the Bay Circuit Trail, which goes around the circumference of metropolitan Boston. It’s a great place for a five-mile hike.

CHANGE OF PLANS: Court of Honor & Dessert at St. Brigid’s, 7:30 pm, June 14
Scouts and Parents–
When we planned the final meeting of the year, we knew it was Flag Day, but we also knew that the ceremonies on the Battle Green were going to start at 6:00 PM which would not interfere with our own start time of 6:30 PM at the Old Res.
Unfortunately, we were thrown a big curve when the sponsors of Flag Day woke up very late last week and scheduled the ceremonies for 7:00 PM – 7:30 PM on the Battle Green. The Boy Scouts always go to Flag Day ceremonies so this was something of a setback. I got a hint of this on Friday, but did not get the official word until Saturday.

Lexingtonia Town Meeting (Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge)
A handful of Scouts missed the Lexingtonia Special Town Meeting–we will arrange a date for a makeup. If anybody needs this merit badge for advancement in rank, please let me know.
The meeting was first rate. I am sorry that a Scout could not be the presenter because I think that would have added a dimension, but it was a complex article which needed some specialized knowledge. After seeing what a great job everybody did, the next time around I think we would simply have a Scout presenter with a staff to answer some of the questions.
There were some problems with the article which were inserted on purpose. You discovered them all and that’s why, I think, the article was defeated 12-11.
