Give a hand to the annual cookout at the Old Res on Sat Sept 29

To all Lexington boy scout parents and scouts:

The annual cookout at the Old Res will be held on Sat Sept 29 (details see attached flyer). I am this year’s coordinator. (If it rains that day and we need to move location, I will send out an email that day with alternate location information). Along with the salad / dessert assistance mentioned in the flyer, I need some volunteers for the following:

  • 5 people to donate their gas grills (we need 1 or 2 with side-burners to boil water for hot chocolate). (Indicate if you wish to cook, or just donate grill), Please make sure the tank is full enough to last for 2 hours. Reply with your phone # and address
  • 1-2 persons with truck or trailor to get all grills to and from Old Res.
  • 1 person to be responsible for bringing trash barrels and for removal of trash (and any recycling they wish to set up and be responsible for).
  • 5 people to cook on the grills (owners have first preference), (bring your own utensils)
  • 4 people to help with food prep, serving, drinks, etc……

Most of this is relatively painless volunteer duty, so if you haven’t volunteered much before, please step up to the plate to give a hand. Include your home / cell phone number with your reply directly to me.

Thanks
Rick Melnick

White Mountains Campout 2007

The information and permission forms for the trip are available here. There is one form for scouts and one for adult volunteers. Please note, this is for the Columbus Day Weekend trip, NOT the upcoming backpacking trip.

This trip is a bit different from our typical campouts, because the scouts travel from the base camp in Thornton, NH (my house) to various hiking and climbing activities. The scouts break into smaller groups for their selected activity. We need adults to provide transportation and participation for each activity. It also “takes a village” to transport the scouts and gear from Lexington to the White Mountains and back home again. The troop really needs a lot of adult participation for this trip.

Here’s a quick outline of the weekend:
