Three upcoming events

Three things I want to make sure you know about:

Saturday, Oct 20th, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM:
I am looking for 3-4 volunteers to build, tend, and supervise a Cub Scout campfire in Willard Woods. After lighting the fire, there will be the standard skits and songs along with some marshmallow roasting. The Boy Scouts might want to work up a rousing (yet appropriate) skit or song to show the Cubs how older boys do it. Yes, I will authorize service hours for it since it is not of direct benefit to the troop. Let me know if you are interested. It will probably be cool so it won’t matter what uniform you have on under your coat.

Monday, Nov 12th, 9:45 AM - 11:00 AM:
Everybody who can get there should show up at the White House (the old school admin building next to the police station) for the Veterans’ Day Parade. Yes, your Scoutmaster is a veteran. And yes, this is a joint event with Troop 119 for which you get service hours. But don’t let that be the ONLY reason you show up! Wear Class A uniform. If it rains hard, we will have an indoor ceremony starting at 10 AM at the National Heritage Museum.

Thursday, Nov 15th, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM: This is our twice-yearly good turn for the Friends of Cary Library when we move 8,000+ books to prepare for the book sale. Pizza and soft drinks to all participants. This sale helps fund the libary and the help they get from both 160 and 119 is greatly appreciated. Even though we are really giving back to the community through this effort, you will get service hours. Service hours, pizza in the library, and a good turn all at the same time … Where else can you find this incredible combination? Wear either Class A or Class B uniform. We will be through in time to walk over to our meetings. Walk? C’mon–Hancock is maybe a block away and St. Brigids is just three. I think we can all manage the walk even in a blinding snowstorm.
