The Deep Freeze Camping Trip is herrre!

Dear Troop 160 Adults,

The Deep Freeze Camping Trip is herrre! It is the weekend before
school vacation, so you have no need to worry about your scout’s homework or
unfinished project, come enjoy the beauty of the nature in Maine! We have
wonderful host family (Rolfson’s) offering 120 acres’ open land for scouts,
and adults will be able to stay in their log cabin with non-stop fire and
hot drinks.

Many thanks go to parents who already committed to lead and
supervise the camping program. We are looking forward to having a wonderful
winter camping trip.

Please bring your check and sign-up form to our next meeting on
Thursday. You are also welcome to mail them to Lien Ho. Questions? Feel free to contact Lien at h389@rcn.com.

Thanks!

Lien, Deep Freeze Coordinator

Gunstock Ski Trip – Feb 2

The annual Troop 160 ski trip to Gunstock Mountain in New Hampshire will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008. Gunstock offers 45 trails for DOWNHILL SKIING and SNOWBOARDING, 50 kilometers of CROSS-COUNTRY trails, 7 chutes for TUBING, and is known for its “guaranteed” Learn-to-Ski program. All equipment is available for rental: skis, snowboards, cross-country skis, snow blades, boots, & helmets. Everyone in the family is welcome! Gunstock has great snowmaking capability and they do an excellent job of keeping the trails covered. This is a great opportunity to get the whole family out for a day of fun in the winter sun.

This year we are again counting on parents to drive and offer rides to others where space is available. It’s a really fun day trip so I hope we can have a great turnout this year. A ski trip information sheet and sign-up sheet will be available at the troop meetings on January 10th and January 17th, and is also downloadable below. All forms and payment are due by January 24th. If you plan on renting equipment, I highly recommended that you submit the forms in advance so that the equipment will be ready for you when you arrive. It goes so much more quickly and you can be out on the slopes in short order.

Margaret Stebbins is the ski trip event coordinator this year. For more information, or to volunteer, please call or e-mail Margaret.

Troop meeting: Basics of winter camping

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all enjoying the warm weather! This week we will be teaching the basics of winter camping. This meeting will be very helpful if you are planning to go on the Hidden Valley winter camping trip or the Deep Freeze, and I personally think that all scouts here that want to go on a winter camping trip in the future should come.

Yours in Scouting,
Wilson Ho
