When you get your Lexington Minuteman this week, you will see that the Friends of Cary Library have thanked Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts for their help during the twice-yearly book sale. A quick count indicates you moved at least 14,000 books, certainly a record.

The sale cleared $9,000, much more than is usually made. In addition, many of the books went directly to the library collection.
In a time of tightened budgets, the work all of the Scouts did is greatly appreciated and one of the things that keeps Cary Library working as well as it does.
By the way–although FOCL has once again mentioned my name too prominently in the letter to the editor, they are well aware of who does the work and how it gets done–and that is by Scouts. The organization was superb with older Scouts from 119 and 160 providing working leadership while younger Scouts hustled the many loads of books from storage areas to the sale area. All of the non-Scout adults who witness it are always impressed. The added help this time from Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and associated leaders, was a key to being able to handle the added volume.
And if Liam from 119 shows up for the next book migration, he is owed at least an extra slice of pizza.
Thank you all!
