Troop 160 – Summer Camp Time!! – Sign them up!

Hi all,

We are ALL going to summer camp both weeks, so here are the forms to fill out and mail back to Jeff.  It is as easy as 1, 2, 3!!!  That is Form 1, Form 2, and Form 3.

Prices are held level from last year!!!  Where else can you get TWO weeks of Sleep away camp including transportation for $660???

The Troop strongly encourages all scouts to attend BOTH weeks of summer camp.

Read the Troop 160 Information sheet and the rest is straight forward.  Here are the facts:

Camp Bell -  Aug 9-15th  Best camp around!!! Improve your patrol skills and have food and fun. Spend the day with friends!
Hidden Valley – Aug 16-22  Also the best camp around!!!  Get some merit badges, enjoy your friends, and have fun

Form 1 – due March 5th
Form 2 - due May 7th
Form 3 - due March 5th
Med form – due May 7th

Everyone goes both weeks, so read the info sheet, fill out the forms, and mail them to Jeff.  He loves to get mail!!!!

If you have any questions, either email me or see me at the end of the meetings.

There are many helpful resources on the Troop’s website which you should all take a look at.For the people going to the Deep Freeze camping trip, here is a page on winter camping and  a PDF file containing the Deep Freeze packing list.
There are some great links on the Cold Weather Gear page about winter camping in general, snow shelters and Quinzees, fires and much more. Be sure to check some of them out.

Summer Camp – Plan now for two weeks

Hi All,

It is time to plan that summer.  It will come and it will be great!  Plan to send your scout to two wonderful weeks of summer camp!

Troop 160 will be going to:
Camp Bell from Aug 9 – 15
Hidden Valley from Aug 16-22

Camp Bell is great for second, third, fourth and beyond year scouts.  Do cool all day activities and they cook and enjoy a great meal together.

Hidden Valley is perfect for spending the morning working on Merit Badges and then hanging out with your buddies all afternoon!

Forms will come out in the next week.  Deposits will be due in Early March.

Block out those weeks and let your scout have a great adventure!

Family Ski Trip to Gunstock – March 7th

Hi everyone,

This year’s annual Troop 160 family ski trip to Gunstock Mountain in New Hampshire will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2009.  Gunstock offers 45 trails for DOWNHILL SKIING and SNOWBOARDING, 50 kilometers of CROSS-COUNTRY trails, 7 chutes for TUBING, and is known for its “guaranteed” Learn-to-Ski program. All equipment is available for rental: skis, snowboards, cross-country skis, snow blades, boots, & helmets.  Everyone in the family is welcome!  Gunstock has great snowmaking capability and they do an excellent job of keeping the trails covered.  This is a great opportunity to get the whole family out for a day of fun in the winter sun!

This year we are again counting on parents to drive and offer rides to others where space is available.  It’s a really fun day trip so I hope we can have a great turnout this year.  I have attached a flyer, Group Rate Sheet, and Permission form.  I will also have these forms available at the next few Troop Meetings.  All forms and payment are due by Thursday, February 26th (the week after February School vacation).  If you plan on renting equipment, I highly recommended that you submit the forms in advance so that the equipment will be ready for you when you arrive. It goes so much more quickly and you can be out on the slopes in short order.

You can bring signed forms and payment to troop meetings or you can mail them to me at 35 Ledgelawn Ave, Lexington, MA 02420.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thanks,
