We did not have much of a crew today and the crew had no rakes, but here is what was done:
- All of the uncharred wood except for one log was distributed in the woods.
- All of the charred wood was cut up into short lengths and neatly stacked to one side of the fire circle.
- Most of the charcoal was gathered and put into three large trashbags.
Here is what is left to do:
- The fire circle needs to be raked and the remaining charcoal put into another sack.
- The four sacks should be transported down to the Fiske dumpster and tossed into it.
- The uncharred log should be put back in the woods.
- The pile of charred wood should be taken down the trail and NEATLY stacked, much like it is stacked now, just before breaking out of the trail onto the sidewalk. The stack should be just off the trail, not in the trail. Once the wood gets that far, the Town will arrange for it to be picked up.
Under NO circumstances should charred wood or charcoal be distributed in the woods. It looks unsightly and takes forever to rot. All charred wood and charcoal MUST be removed from the site.
I have a pretty full schedule tomorrow, but I could use some help on Friday if it is not raining. We need a wheelbarrow, a rake, and about an hour of time. Since my car is in the shop, I cannot transport a wheelbarrow to the site.
Let me know if anybody with a wheelbarrow can make it on Friday and what time you can make it. Saturday is also a full day, by the way so we are pretty well stuck with Friday unless it is raining.
