SPL elections

First, I want to thank the three strong candidates who ran for SPL–Thomas E., Matthew S., and Ben E. I was pleased to see such a strong field and I would have been happy with any one of them.

But, for the next six months, your SPL will be Ben E. Now he has to put together a staff.

I-House JLT will not be held this weekend as the calendar shows. Instead it will be held the evening of the 24th going through to the morning of the 25th.

I want to recognize and thank Eliot W. for his outstanding service as the SPL for the past year.

SPL nominations

Scouts–

There were five excellent candidates who stood up at the last meeting to tell you a bit about themselves. Some were still undecided, but I urge all of them to decide to run because ALL were worthy candidates who could handle the job.

After checking with a sixth candidate who was nominated, but who was not there last week, he has declined because he will miss several meetings before Thanksgiving.

So come to the meeting this week prepared to vote for a new SPL. You met them last week. We will entertain any further nominations, get a final Yes or No from the undecideds, and then, in the time-honored manner of our democratic system, you will elect your new SPL.

One further piece of business will be to finalize patrols. I have gone over the list with the SPL and have a couple of questions. We missed a couple of Scouts and I spotted a couple of names who may not be with us this year. Moreover, the SPL elections along with the subsequent appointment of junior leaders will change the patrol makeup a bit.
