A Big Pack 197 Thank you for hosting a Fantastic Campout

Dear Ben, Hank, Richard, and 160 Scouts and Adults,

Thank you for an outstanding campout.  Pack 197 Webelos scouts were very happy to be part of the event.  The Pack 197 parents were most impressed with the creative oven you made for the turkeys and all other manner of cooking skills you displayed.  160 really knows how to feed a crowd and well whether it is turkey dinner or pancakes!

Thanks for helping our scouts work on their outdoorsman activity badge.  We look forward to visiting your troop in February.

Request for ideas for holiday greetings for servicemen and women

Our sponsor has suggested that we might want to do something this holiday season for members of the parish who are serving in the armed forces.  They know of 16.  You may know others who are serving as well.  Speaking from experience, something as simple as a card could be a boost, but you may have other ideas.

If you have any thoughts about what we might do or if you know of any service members and can supply contact information, plesae let me know about it.  Any idea from the very simple to the complex will be appreciated.  But we have to hurry if we are to get anything to women and men serving overseas.

Veterans Day ceremonies

Thank you to the Scouts who showed up for the Veterans Day ceremonies today.  Attendance at events like this one is part of why the the town supports us as they do.

And a huge round of applause to John for his award-wiining essay which he read on the Green this morning.  The rest of the essays were good, but John’s was superb.  Last Flag Day John’s leading of the attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance was the best I have heard in years.
