Service project

I know–it’s the troop ski weekend and you will all be up enjoying the snow, but if you aren’t and if you want to help with a quick service project for our sponsor, meet me at our usual meeting place at 2:30 PM on Saturday.  It will take us about an hour and a half so we will be working until approximately 4:00 PM.  And if an adult or two wanted to show up to give me assured two-deep leadership, that would be a help.  Somebody from the church will be there I am sure, but just in case …

A correction and another note

Of course my last message which was titled something like “Two Notes” actually had several more than that.  That is the price of not having the advantage of an LHS education. :-)   I think I got the count right this time, though …

In any case, there has been some confusion about when to show up at the meeting tonight.  We are a bit behind because of the vacation week.  The history of Webelos nights is that parents and Cubs show up as early as 7:15 and the SPL needs to do some fine tuning on the program for tonight so if the PLC Scouts could show up around 6:30 PM, that would help out the SPL a lot.  I know he wants to go over the program for tonight and then there is some setup to do.

So pretend this is a PLC night and so PLs, ASPLs, and the rest who come to PLCs should be there early if they can.  I realize that makes for a long night.

Two more items for the troop

Normally this e-mail would come from the SPL, but a couple of things came up today which need to be addressed immediately.  In addition, there are a couple of notes on important matters.

1.  You already have a note from the SPL about what we are doing at the meeting this week.  This is an important meeting so wear your uniform and tuck in your shirt.

2,  The Parish Hall floors have been newly cleaned and waxed.  Please wear non-marking shoes to meetings and make sure they are clean when you enter the hall.  If you do come from some outdoor sport, don’t wear your sport shoes indoors.  Change into a clean pair of shoes before entering the hall.

3. Next week is the tentative date for OA elections.  We will talk about that at the meeting this week so you will understand who can be elected and what your part is in the election.  Last year, because of circumstances beyond our control, some deserving Scouts did not get the chance to be elected.

4.  There is a short, but important, service project the troop would like to do for our sponsor.  If you would like to help, please join me from 2:30 PM to about 4:00 PM this Saturday at our usual meeting place.  We will be creating a storage place for some items in the basement of the Parish Hall and then we will be moving those items from the storage area just off Keilty Hall to the new storage area.  Some of the items are somewhat fragile so come prepared to work with some concentration.  Bring work gloves if you have them.

5.  I have outlines for five Eagle projects.  Those who need them should talk to me for a copy of the project overviews.   I may have a sixth and possibly a seventh by tomorrow evening when we meet.
