Informal meeting this week

Attached is a description of the informal meeting to be held this week along with a permission slip.

The meeting will be at a different time–6:30 – 8:30 PM.  Dropoff and pickup will be at Hastings Park near the bandstand.  Make sure Scouts are dressed appropriately and that they have a flashlight.  Wear your uniform shirt.

Yes, we need at least a few adults to make this work.  Feel free to tag along!

Riflery & Rod Campout

Dear Parents,

This is just a reminder to fill out the attached form if your scout wants to attend
this campout on May 1st and 2nd.  Also, I will  need volunteers to drive to Hudson
and back to Lexington so please let me know if you can help.  I am planning on
attending next Thursday’s meeting at Hastings Park so your scout can give me the
form and payment then or you can mail it to me.

Thank you,
Debbie

Delay in JLT overnight

We were scheduled for an In-House JLT session at the St Brigid Parish Hall this Friday night into Saturday monring, but given the flooding of last week, along with some further leakage caused by the still high water table and the rain today, I am going to delay at least one week.  Stay tuned for further developments.

The meeting is still on, but Scouts are asked not to go into the basement unless they get my permission first.  We want to make sure that any cleaning on the first floor is not negated by tracking up stuff from the lower level.

Court of Honor – Thursday, March 25

Hi Everyone,

The Court of Honor will be held this Thursday, March 25th at St Brigid’s.  Parents and scouts should plan on arriving at 7:30 PM with food contributions as follows:

Families with the last name starting with:

A-L bring snacks/deserts
M-Z bring drinks.

Please remember to also provide any necessary serving utensils and to label all bowls, plates, etc.

See you there!

How the reimbursement process works

Many years before any of us arrived on this earth, Rudyard Kipling wrote something about not being fully appreciated:

For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Chuck him out, the brute!”
But it’s “Saviour of ‘is country” when the guns begin to shoot;

Of couse nobody is shooting at anybody, but it reminds me of how many volunteers the troop has and how much we depend on those volunteers.  The last I checked I don’t think I found anybody that was being paid.  :-)

This e-mail is about one such volunteer–the Treasurer–and the job we have asked her to do.  The plan is for any troop expenditures by volunteers to be reimbursed promptly, but we all need to give the hard-working treasurer some help because at the end of the year I will want to know what we spent money for so we can budget for the next year.

Here are some ground rules.  Let me know if I have gotten something wrong or if you don’t understand something.
