Trooop 160 Adult coverage at summer camp

Hi all,

We are still looking for  a couple adult leaders during summer camp.  We could use 1 or 2 more for Camp Bell and 2 or 3 more for Hidden Valley.
Please consider giving back to the Troop and your son for  a couple days at Camp.  It is a fun experience and the work required can vary from drinking coffee all day watching scouts, to actively participating in activities.  It is up to you.

We would like parents to spend as much time as possible at camp.  The minimum would be at least two full days (Drive up in the evening,  stay two days and return in the evening).

I will be at the court of Honor this evening.  Please come talk to me about the opportunity.

Yours in Scouting,
Jeff Shorter

Last Troop-wide mailing and roster for Cape Cod trip

Troop 160,

The current roster for the June 25-27 trip to Cape Cod is below.
If you think you should be on it and aren’t, or if you’re on it and shouldn’t be, please let me know as soon as possible.

THE SATURDAY PRE-TRIP MEETING IS MOVED TO 9:00 AM SATURDAY (JUNE 19) in the St. Brigids parking lot.

I needed to move the pre-trip meeting because of the patrol outing and canoe shakedown that are happening in the afternoon.
If you can’t come, let me know.

I’ll check over your bikes, you can plan out ride(s), and you can decide on meals.  Then we’ll take a short ride on the Minuteman bikepath to cover safety issues and see how you ride.  The meeting should last 1-1/2 to 2 hours.

ADULTS:
I need at least one or two other adults to be at the Saturday morning meeting.  Let me know if you can help.
Thanks, and see you Thursday (at the COH) and Saturday,

Mike Ames

June bike riding trip on Cape Cod — Second mailing

Troop 160,

SCOUTS:
I have e-mails and/or permission slips from 10 scouts for the June 25-27 cycling trip on Cape Cod. If you are interested in coming on this trip, please contact me in the next few days so I can plan to have enough adults available for the trip.

ADULTS:
I’ve heard from a few ‘maybes’, but only have one solid reply for another adult who will be riding and camping (plus two drivers only). We definitely need a few more adults to ride and camp.  I’d really like to offer the scouts two different length riding options, but will need at least 4 adults to make this possible.  We might be able to drive the scouts we already have coming, but will need more adults if we get and more scouts.  There is a possibility that we’ll have a box van to transport the bikes which make some of the logistics much easier, but more adult bodies are a must.

Also I’d really appreciate someone to volunteer to be adult grubmaster (adult food coordinator).
Please let me know if you can come ASAP because I need to start the Tour Permit process this week.

Thanks (in advance) for helping out on this trip.
Yours in Scouting and Cycling,
Mike Ames

Adult Training — Youth Protection Training is a MUST HAVE

It is time to raise the importance level of adult training.  Yes, I know we are all volunteers, but we need all adults–even if you are not planning to lead trips–to take the basic training, especially the first, MUST HAVE, course called Youth Proection Training.

Much of the training can be done online.  And most of it is very easy and not time-consuming.

For online courses, go to www.myscouting.org and set up a login.  If you have a registration number, enter it in your profile.  If you do not, create the login and then enter your number when you get one.
