A note about Eagle Boards of Review

This only applies to a few people, but I will forget to tell them individually so I will simply send out a quick note to everybody now.

When a Scout is ready for an Eagle board of review, there used to be a custom of being able to choose a “friendly face” for your board–somebody you knew who would be part of the board.  I hasten to add that there are no unfriendly faces at Eagle Boards, but nicknames stick.

That custom was abolished a year ago.  Now a Scout simply signs up for a board and attends without having to find somebody for the board.  The Scoutmaster or his appointed representative goes along to introduce the Scout to the board, but the SM is not part of the board.

Currently, Eagle BORs are held in Reading and Lexington.  Once a Scout submits an Eagle application, he should pay very close attention to his e-mail because Lexington board slots go very quickly.  Reading is not too much of a hike, but it is a lot farther than Lexington.  Moreover, with Reading boards currently on Monday, it is unlikely that I will be able to attend since I have a selectmen’s meeting most Monday nights.  So pay attention to your e-mail and answer up quickly when asked to name a night.
