Book migration tonight and Hastings Bandstand lighing right after Thanksgiving

Remember–

Book migration at Cary Library is this evening.  5 PM until we finish.  A couple of parents to help with the walk back to our meeting places would be a huge help.

And on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, we are doing our usual lighting of the bandstand in Hastings Park.  We typically start around 8 PM if the weather is reasonable.  This year we will be doing a sponsor project at the same time–putting together the stable which is part of the creche in front of St. Brigid.

Troop 160 Indoor Rock Climbing – Dec 11, 2010 – sign up now!

Greetings 160:

Indoor Rock Climbing  Saturday, December 11, 2010

Leave St. Brigid 9:45am – return by 1pm   ++ If coming direct to BRC, arrive 10:15

Boston Rock Gym
78 G Olympia Ave – Woburn, MA 01801
www.bostonrockgym.com

Your Scout can enjoy a “fun-skilled” 2 hours of indoor rock climbing at one of the best gyms in New England.  All participants will have many opportunities to belay and improve their skills for the low price of $15.00/scout.

We will leave from  St Brigid’s parking lot at 09:45am that Saturday.  You will find attached those handouts and waiver forms (2 files) which must be mailed to me with $15.00 by December 2.   I will bring the waiver forms to Woburn on December 11th.  Only scouts with the proper documentation will be allowed to climb.

If you have any questions please email me or call our house.  This should be a fun 2 hours.  The Rock Gym manager has assured me that there are multiple wall choices.  There are many difficult walls to climb to keep the more experienced scouts challenged.    I hope we have a great participation from our troop.  December can be a month of little physical activity-not enough snow and too little warm weather.  This will be a day you can sweat!

Last Minute Cookeree Reminders

Just a couple of additonal notes for Saturday’s Cookeree.  The weather is looking good so it should be a good time.

1. Dinner Carpooling.  Many people are not going out until Dinner time. One suggestion made tonight was if you are going to just attend Dinner, meet up with others at the St Brigid’s parkling lot at 3:30 and drive out with other parents.  It will help with the parking and also help the environment.

2.Saturday – Meet at 8AM at St Brigid’s.

3.If you are spending the day, Don’t forget your lunch and fill your water bottle.

4. For those who have volunteered for duties, thanks in advance for all of the assistance. It is appreciated.  For those wanting to help, there is planty to do see me and I’ll find a job.

5. Lastly, the purpose of this event is to show Webeloes and their parents the benefits of scouting. Show them all a good time.

I look forward to seeing everyone out at Camp Acton Saturday

Lights for the Cook-O-Ree

If you are coming to the Cook-O-Ree on Saturday, I suggest bringing along a flashlight.  If you have any sort of lantern or wide-area light, consider bringing that, too.  We are expecting a crowd and it is always nice to be able to see what you are eating.  :-)

And consider carpooling!!!  I suspect parking will be a bit tight.

ADULT VOLUNTEER NEEDED!!!

Hi everyone,

We have an immediate need to fill the following position:

Pancake Breakfast Co-Manager – Franco Wong, who is the current Manager of the annual Pancake Breakfast on Patriots’ Day, is moving on after this year.  Katie Sultan learned the ropes last year and worked with Franco as Co-Manager.  We are looking for someone to train with Franco and Katie this year and to take over next year as Co-Manager with Katie.  As you all know, this is the Troop’s only fundraiser of the year – and it is quite an undertaking!  It really is a two-person job to manage all of the preparations for this great event.  Please consider volunteering for this very important position.

Thanks,
Margaret Stebbins
