I was slow in meeting with the SPL this week which is why this e-mail is coming from me and not from him.
There are several Scouting events you should put on your calendar. Here are three of them:
MEETING THIS THURSDAY
Parents are invited to this one so c’mon down! We will have a meeting devoted to hardcore trips. Featured will be two people who have actually biked across America. No kidding. All the way. You rode out to Acton? Fantastic, but there is a much larger world. Come to the meeting to find out how they thought of doing it and then how they actually did it.
Bring any questions you may have and you should have a bunch. Things like how they found places to camp. And how many mile a day they were able to make.
My projector is broken so if anybody has one, let me know. And remember–parents are invited!
PATRIOTS DAY
Sure there is the Pancake Breakfast, but don’t forget we have been invited to march in the afternoon parade while pushing the pumper. And maybe squirting a few people. We did this last year and it was a lot of fun. This year we have a banner. I am sure Troop 119 will want to join us as they did last year.
NEW SCOUT CAMPOUT
First we hike like 15 or 20 miles, then we camp out, we cook a meal, we get checked out on sharp tools, and we make a campsite. Oh, yeah–we sing a few songs and maybe act out a skit or two.
All New Scouts should make an effort to come. We will gather at the St. B’s Parish Hall at 4 PM and then set out on the hike. The fun starts on Friday, April 8th.
There will be more information at the meeting this week. It probably is a LITTLE shorter than 15-20 miles, by the way.
We need at least a couple of older Scouts to help out and I need a couple of adult leaders as well. We will do the campout rain, shine, … or … snow.
