Reminder Eliot Wong Court of Honor, Sunday, April 10th 2pm at SACRED HEART

You are cordially invited to Eliot Wong’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor Sunday, April 10th at 2pm at Sacred Heart.

If your family has not yet attended an Eagle COH, we highly recommend that you come and bring the family – they are very inspirational.

The response date is March 31st – so please – send in your RSVPs today!

Scouts should wear their class A uniforms – but there is no need to bring anything else.

We hope to see you there!

Three events for your calendar

I was slow in meeting with the SPL this week which is why this e-mail is coming from me and not from him.

There are several Scouting events you should put on your calendar.  Here are three of them:

MEETING THIS THURSDAY

Parents are invited to this one so c’mon down!  We will have a meeting devoted to hardcore trips.  Featured will be two people who have actually biked across America.  No kidding.  All the way.  You rode out to Acton?  Fantastic, but there is a much larger world.  Come to the meeting to find out how they thought of doing it and then how they actually did it.

Bring any questions you may have and you should have a bunch.  Things like how they found places to camp.  And how many mile a day they were able to make.

My projector is broken so if anybody has one, let me know.  And remember–parents are invited!

PATRIOTS DAY

Sure there is the Pancake Breakfast, but don’t forget we have been invited to march in the afternoon parade while pushing the pumper.  And maybe squirting a few people.  We did this last year and it was a lot of fun.  This year we have a banner.  I am sure Troop 119 will want to join us as they did last year.

NEW SCOUT CAMPOUT

First we hike like 15 or 20 miles, then we camp out, we cook a meal, we get checked out on sharp tools, and we make a campsite.  Oh, yeah–we sing a few songs and maybe act out a skit or two.

All New Scouts should make an effort to come.  We will gather at the St. B’s Parish Hall at 4 PM and then set out on the hike.  The fun starts on Friday, April 8th.

There will be more information at the meeting this week.  It probably is a LITTLE shorter than 15-20 miles, by the way.

We need at least a couple of older Scouts to help out and I need a couple of adult leaders as well.  We will do the campout rain, shine, … or … snow.

Archery and Riflery Campout, April 30/May 1

Dear Parents,

The form for this campout was handed out at last week’s meeting.  Attached is the form again, along with more detailed information if your scout wants to attend the Archery & Riflery campout on April 30th & May 1st.  Also, I will  need volunteers to drive to Hudson and back to Lexington so please let me know if you can help and/or whether you plan to stay over.

I am planning on being at the end of next Thursday’s meeting so your scout can give me the form and payment then or you can mail it to me.  April 7th is your deadline to get the form & payment to me!.  Thanks very much.

$15 per scout, made payable to Troop 160

Troop 160 Summer Camp Forms

Hi all,

We are up to 50 scout weeks for summer camp with the time split fairly evenly between camps.

I will have a list of scouts who have put down deposits for summer camp at the Court of Honor tonight, so please check the list and let me know if it is not correct.

I am attaching the forms if you have not signed up your scout.

Also, we are looking for a few volunteers for camp.  We have openings in both weeks.  Please think about giving back to the Troop.  If you want to go to Philmont, summer camp is a great way to see how scout trips work and to get some necessary training!  Just fill out Form 3 and send it in.

Whitewater rafting sign up form (deposit due March 24th) …

Attached is the sign-up form for the white water rafting trip this spring.  This flyer contains lots of information about pre-requisites, age limits for the Dead River, costs, liability waivers, etc.  I have also attached a copy of the North Country Rivers liability waiver form.

I will need a 50% non-refundable deposit from you this Thursday, March 24th.  See the form for cost details.  If you wish to pay the full amount up front, that makes my life a little easier J  If you have the forms ready by Thursday, that is great as well, but I can take them any time before April 7th.

Any adult that wants to go on the outing but does not want to raft should speak with me – your cost would be much lower.
