Thank you for another GREAT year

I am sure you will be hearing more about this event after we all recover from another incredible effort.

First, a huge round of applause for our Pancake Breakfast Chairs plus the guy that always claims he is not one of the chairs anymore.  And then another round of applause for everybody that worked in any capacity this year.  Scouts and adults all really hustled.

I got nothing but compliments.  I saw first hand the way Scouts worked.  The pancakes never seemed to stop.  An increased number of Reserved Seating customers were smoothly handled.  And the hall looked great when we were finished.

So thanks for everything.  And when you see the Pancake Breakfast chairs, thank them again.  Everybody did a superb job.  And then give yourselves several pats on the back for your own work.

The afternoon parade was another plus for Scouting.  Anybody who watched or marched in the parade knows firsthand that we live in a small New England town with very supportive citizens.  My thanks to both troops for supporting this event.  I will sign off on any participants who would like LHS service hour credit.  Just give me a name and I will send you a PDF of the LHS form, completely filled out and with my signature.

We have two projects for our sponsor for which I need some help.  I will be sending out a more complete note early Wednesday.  Why do we need to help our sponsor?  Well, for one thing they need the help and these two projects are things we know how to do.  And for another, think of the huge boost we get from free use of the hall and utilities for our Pancake Breakfast.  I have no idea what the electricity for our grills costs, but I bet it is significant.

Project #1:  On Thursday I need as many Scouts as possible (adults can help, too) to bring flashlights and prepare to light a path to the Parish Hall for parishoners as they leave the church and go to the Parish Hall.  Last year a couple of parishoners tripped and were injured.  This will happen around 8:30 so I expect we should gather NLT 8:00 PM and plan to be there an hour.  I will firm up the times NLT Wednesday early in the day.

Project #2:  We did this one last year.  On Saturday starting at about 7 PM and running until 8 PM we will build and maintain a fire watch over the Easter Vigil Fire.  We need at least four Scouts for this one.  Again, I will firm up the times NLT early Wednesday.

Thank you!!

Hi everyone,

I also want to thank you all for the the amazing work that was put into making this Pancake Breakfast a success to serving our community and  fund raising for our scouts!

Every bit of  your help is appreciated, form the beginning to the end was amazing – Publicity, Shopping, Treasurer, Wrapping plastic ware, Orange slicers,Soliciting for donations and collection the donations,  Audiovisual set up, signs posted, Food and Drink servers, Scout table cleaner and Maple Syrup refill station workers. The huge under taking of  set up, transferring and cleaning  items form the school  to the hall ( especially the heavy stuff -grills,chairs,tables) to then  again  breaking it down and the cleaning of everything to putting it way and returning  it  back to our storage.  All the Cooks and Kitchen staff  with the messy job of  working with batter, greasy sausages and Drink makers. As well as Greeters/Welcome coffee cart folks,  Scout Ticket sales as well as anyone who took trash out and assisted our visitor in anyway.  Hope I did not for get anyone/position.

I want thank all of you so very much !!!

If you do not mind we would like feed back on what worked well and were we need to make changes- we do know the coffee machine was a big issues – we worked around it. We will figure out how to solve that problem for next year.
All and any feed back is welcome!!

Again thanks and regard to all of you!!

The Peripatetic House

This was sent to the Lexington List last week, but I have since found out that some in the troop do not read that list and did not know about the slideshow about the move of the old house from in front of the church where we meet for Scouts each week.

Here is a link to the slideshow. Just click on Start Slideshow when you get to the index page.

I plan a followup on what the old church used to look like.  I have always wondered.  Somebody was kind enough to send me a postcard from 1953 which started me thinking about doing more on the history of the area around St. B’s.  And I plan to improve this slideshow since it has taken more than 650 hits and has apparently been downloaded and posted on another site.  If anybody got a picture of Father Colletti blessing the house, I would love to have it.

Parade placement for pumper

We will be in Spot #32 which is a very short distance toward Arlington from the East Lexington Fire Station.  It is just about exactly where we were last year.

We need at least a few Scouts there by 12:45 on Monday.  If you can’t get there by then, but can get there before the parade kicks off, then look for us and join in.  Bring a water bottle.

If you are being picked up by parents after the parade, then figure out with your parents where the best spot for that pickup will be.  We will leave the parade route just past the reviewing stand and head up Hancock a short distance to the barn behind the Hancock-Clarke House.

I hope we can get a good turnout for this.  It is a fun event and it really advertises Scouting.  We also have a couple of banners to carry so we need extra Scouts for that.

Bernie & Sue Ellen–I have a banner which lists both troops and the Lexington Scouts Web address.  It is already mounted on a pole.  It should be easy to carry since it is pretty light.  I am not sure about the Historical Society banner.
