Financial Aid Policy

It is the goal of Troop 160 that no Scout is excluded from basic troop activities such as registration, overnights and summer camp due to financial hardship.  In order to provide financial aid while maintaining confidentiality the following procedure should be followed:

  1. Parent/Guardian of scout needing financial assistance contacts financial aid coordinator. Parent and coordinator agree on an amount that is reasonable for the family to pay based on their financial position. It is expected that the family will pay at least a nominal amount.
  2. Financial aid coordinator contacts treasurer to make them aware of the need.
  3. Scout turns in proper paperwork and a check for the full amount of the activity to the trip/activity coordinator.
  4. The treasurer writes a check to the scout’s family for the amount of the campership.
  5. The trip/activity coordinator turns in the checks in a normal manner and the treasurer deposits them after confirming that the family has received and deposited the campership check.
