Troop 160 Scouts Camp In Record Cold

posted Feb 28, 2016, 9:22 AM by Troop Editor
Thirteen scouts from Troop 160  spent two nights in record cold temperature at the  annual Deep Freeze.
Saturday night  the scouts slept inside their quinzhees while the temperature outside plunged to -18 F.   The second night was not much warmer,  going down to -14 F.   These were the coldest temperatures  in Parsonsfield Maine since 1957.   During the day,  the temperature warmed to around zero,  about the temperature of the typical home freezer. As usual, soup froze solid in cans, eggs had to be thawed before frying,  and scouts kept popsicles in their quinzees for a quick snack.
