MATAGAMON SUMMER 2021 PLANNING DETAILS
Every three years, Troop 160 goes on a high adventure canoe trip in Maine, starting at the Matagamon High Adventure Base and taking a fantastic canoeing voyage in the backcountry!
By July 2021, we’re expecting that everyone will have received a COVID vaccine, and we can safely send a Troop 160 crew to enjoy a week in the deep woods of Maine.
The canoeing trip will include six (6) days on the water. Everyone needs to pass the BSA swimmer test and be strong enough to get in and out of a canoe in the water unassisted.
Crew size: The crew is limited to 11 people, including adults. Ideal crew is 8 Scouts, 3 Adults.
Age limit: You must be at least 13 years old before Sept. 1, 2021
Departure: July 5, 2021 (5-hour drive to Maine, sleep in motel/lodge that night)
Return: July 12, 2021 (return drive home from Maine)
Merit Badge: All Scouts attending should easily earn the Canoeing Merit Badge
Cost: $700-$800, depending on a few factors to be worked out. (Deposit of $100 due now.)
Adults: As noted above, we need at least two adults and ideally three to chaperone.
