SUMMER CAMP PLANNING DETAILS (FOR MORE INFORMATION, SEE THIS FAQ DOCUMENT)
In Summer 2021, Troop 160 plans on attending two weeks at Summer Camp at Griswold Scout Reservation in Gilmanton Iron Works, NH.
August 8-14: Camp Bell (conducted at Hidden Valley)
August 15-21: Hidden Valley
Who should attend?
Scouts - All Scouts are welcome to attend one or both weeks of camp!
Adults - We'll need some adults to attend as well
Important note, if your Scout wants to camp for both weeks, you must pick up your Scout Saturday August 14th, and then return them on August 15th, there will be no overnight program this year on the Saturday evening in between.
MESSAGE FROM TROOP 160's SUMMER CAMP COORDINATOR
Hello Troop 160!
I am excited to share some news with you about 2021 summer camp.
Based on troop survey results regarding summer camp we are excited to move forward with planning for a safe and fun experience this summer.
I've been on several conference calls with Griswold Scout Reservation, home to both Bell and Hidden Valley, and they are happy to report that they plan on opening with some modifications. We are planning an info session for parents during the March 11th troop meeting, be on the lookout for details on that.
Please note a few key changes that I am currently aware of due to COVID:
Camp Bell will not be in operation in 2021 - Instead, the Camp Bell 'experience', which is patrol focused will be held at the northern end of the Hidden Valley. You will still be able to go to 'Camp Bell' but it will physically be in Hidden Valley
They are still developing specific COVID protocols but I expect there will be testing required prior to arrival, and once at camp, it's likely that you will do everything as a troop, moving around the camp together. You can still maintain your patrols, but it will be with the other patrols from T160. Right now the plan is for two scouts per tent, and within your troop campsite, no masks will be required, but camp staff will be wearing masks as they circulate between sites and activities.
While we typically coordinate a bus, we aren't sure of the status of this yet. If the bus is unavailable, please note that parents will be allowed to drop off, but not 'hang out' when they bring their scout to camp.
Similar to many things right now, there is a lot that is changing, so please stay tuned for additional details and expect changes in guidance that the troop receives.
