Every three years, Troop 160 goes on a high adventure canoe trip in Maine, starting at the Matagamon High Adventure Base and taking a fantastic canoeing voyage in the backcountry!

  • The canoeing trip includes six (6) days on the water. Everyone needs to pass the BSA swimmer test and be strong enough to get in and out of a canoe in the water unassisted.

    • Crew size: The crew is limited to 11 people, including adults. Ideal crew is 8 Scouts, 3 Adults.

    • Age limit: You must be at least 13 years old before September 1, 2024

    • Departure: TBD (5-hour drive to Maine, sleep in motel/lodge that night)

    • Return: TBD (return drive home from Maine)

    • Merit Badge: All Scouts attending should easily earn the Canoeing Merit Badge

    • Cost: TBD, depending on a few factors to be worked out.

    • Adults: As noted above, we need at least two adults and ideally three to chaperone.
